Joining his teammate Adrian English in the Berkshires this summer is fellow Barry University player Sheehan Planas-Arteaga, who will compete for the starting spot at first base in an infield full of talented players.
Sheehan made quite an impact as a freshman for the Buccaneers, finishing with a .319 average in 30 games (28 starts). Playing mostly at first base and in the designated hitting spot, Planas-Arteaga posted a .319 average with 30 hits while drilling four doubles, a triple and one home run with 15 RBI. His eight stolen bases were good for second on the team.
Planas-Arteaga attended Belen Jesuit Prep High School and graduated in 2011. He played for the Wolverines and lettered three years under Andy Blanco, hitting .462 with seven home runs, nine doubles, 40 RBIs, and 16 stolen bases his senior year. Those numbers earned him a spot on the All-Dade County First Team.
The son of Stephan Planas and Ana Arteaga, Sheehan has a younger brother, Gavin, and is majoring in English.
