The College of Charleston recruited Nick out of Stratford High School. He saw action in 14 games in 2008 and as a sophomore this season he had six starts with a 5.46 ERA. He earned four varsity baseball letters in high school while playing shortstop, catcher and in the outfield along with his pitching. His versatility on the baseball field helped him lead his school to a 28-6 record on its way to the South Carolina state title. He was selected to the all-state baseball team and played in the North-South High School all-star game.
