Ahearn is entering his sophomore season at Samford University.  He transferred to Samford after redshirting at Tennessee in 2021.  As a freshman, Ahearn threw 5.2 innings over seven appearances on the mound.  He made his collegiate debut against Arkansas State, tossing 0.2 innings of scoreless relief.  Before playing for Samford, he played for the Baylor School in Tennessee.  There he posted an 8-0 record with a 1.74 ERA, 71 strikeouts in 44 innings, leading the Baylor School to a title in his junior season.  That same season he batted .356 with a team high seven home runs and 37 RBI.
