LHP Elroy Urbina was signed by the Kansas City Monarchs on June 8, 2021. He has spent time in AAA foreign leagues his last six seasons of his career. Urbina last played in 2019 for two teams. First with Rieleros de Aguascalientes and then with Bravos de Leon, both in the Mexican League. Over the span from 2015 to 2019 Urbina played foreign ball with those two clubs along with Adelaide Bite in Australia in 2015. In his foreign league career he pitched in 68 games recording 63 strikeouts, ERA of 7.20 and a record of 2-0. Before his foreign league span, he played for the Edinburg Roadrunners in 2013 as part of the United Baseball League. Urbina was drafted by the Arizona Diamondbacks in the 37th round (1,114 overall) of the 2011 MLB June Amateur Draft. He spent 2011 and 2012 playing for the Diamondbacks organization in the Arizona League. Overall, in his seven season professional baseball career, Urbina has pitched in 125 games with an ERA of 6.48 and 128 strikeouts. He attended college at the University of the Incarnate Word in San Antonio, Texas.
