2011 will be Coach Yurkonis’ first with the Westerners. He just completed his second season with Keystone College, under Coach Jamie Shevchik, compiling a 38-12 record, Colonial States Athletic Conference Champions, winning the New York Regional, and competing in the Division III College World Series. Coach Yurkonis’ primary responsibilities’ at Keystone College include working as the Hitting Coach, Catching Coach, and assisting with recruiting. Coach Yurkonis, a 2001 graduate of Rowan University, chose coaching over playing after an injury prevented him from competing at the collegiate level. His experiences started in 1994 with local youth teams and he has moved up the ladder ever since. Coach Yurkonis spent 5 Seasons at Eastern High School as the Assistant Head Coach, and 6 seasons with Gibbsboro Post 371 compiling a 136-88 record and 5 out of 6 district titles. After 3 years spent being a Police Officer in New Jersey he returned full time to be a Hitting Instructor and strength coach for the national recognized Gloucester Catholic High School and Brooklawn Legion programs. During his time he contributed to Gloucester Catholics 2007 State Championship Run and continued success of Brooklawn Legion. |
