Menendez played two seasons at Marshalltown Community College in central Iowa, where he played 49 games. The Miami native hit seven home runs and drove in 27 runs for the 2019 team, slashing .288/.400/.550. He had played in 12 games for MCC before the season was shut down in 2020. In high school, Menendez was ranked among the top 40 third basemen in the state of Florida. He will play his final season of junior college baseball back in Florida for Hillsborough CC.
