Mike Cassala returned to the Dolphins’ rotation this spring after nearly two years of rehabilitation from Tommy John surgery. Cassala allowed just eleven hits over 17 innings in 2020, logging one win, one save, and 21 strikeouts. Before he was injured in 2018, the righthander was a two-way player for the Dolphins, in addition to being JU’s Sunday starter. He was named to the Atlantic Sun Conference All-Tournament team in 2017, helping Jacksonville to the conference title game. He also tied the school record (eventually to be broken by Scorpion teammate Chris Mauloni) with 12 saves in 2016. His summer ball experience includes time with the Yarmouth-Dennis Red Sox of the Cape Cod League in 2017.
