Etheredge is the Honkers 11th Field Manager since the inaugural season in 1994. A former farmhand of the Chicago White Sox, Etheredge is a Volunteer Assistant for the University of California at Santa Barbara baseball team. This is not Etheredge’s first summer in the Northwoods League. He played two summers with the Wisconsin Woodchucks of the NWL in 2004 and 2005, and also played the 2006 summer with the Yarmouth-Dennis Red Sox of the Cape Cod League. Etheredge was a catcher at the University of Texas San Antonio from 2003 to 2008, and was UTSA’s Defensive Player of the Year, Southland Conference All Team selection and UTSA captain in 2007 and 2008. The new Honker Field Manager left UTSA among the top ten on the school’s career record board in at-bats (third), doubles (fifth), games started (sixth), RBIs (sixth), and home runs (ninth). Etheredge signed a free agent contract with the Chicago White Sox in 2008, but was eventually released due to a past shoulder injury which worried the club. Zach brings along former UTSA teammate JR Voyles to join the Rochester coaching staff.
