Garver rejoins the River Bats for a second season behind the dish. This past summer he hit .227 with ] 15 RBIs in 41 games. He had back-to-back three-hit performances June 17-18 against Brainerd and Duluth respectively. Garver started all of the Lobos game in 2011. He batted .308 with 26 RBI's and two home runs. Mitchell posted a .277 average as a freshman in 30 games, 11 of which he started. He smashed 8 doubles and brought in 15 runs. Garver also showcased strong skills with the glove. He did not commit an error as a freshman. Mitchell engraved a legacy at La Cueva High School. He commanded his team to a State Championship in 2008. Garver garnered First Team All-State honors. He received the same honor for his district and ranked amongst the First team All-Metro in 2008-2009. Mitchell was named an honorable mention All-American in 2009. La Cueva High School declared Mitchell its Male Athlete of the Year in 2009. Albuquerque Public Schools bestowed him with the same distinction. Garver also led the Bears to a state championship in soccer. His father, Jerry, played tennis for the Lobos. When not on the field, Mitchell plays soccer, and snowboards.
