Starting 30 of 34 games played, Austin posted a batting average of .276 in his first season at University of North Florida. He transferred from Seminole State College where he garnered one Mid-Florida Conference First Team selection. A four-year letterwinner at Spanish River High School, Austin was named team MVP as a junior.
