Nuno, a 2009 draft pick of the Cleveland Indians, played the past two seasons in the Indians organization. In 2010, he posted a 6-8 record and 4.96 ERA for Lake County of the Midwest League. He struck out 94 batters in 94.1 innings pitched last summer.
In 2009, Nuno combined for a 2.39 ERA in games with the AZL Indians and Mahoning Valley. With the New York Penn League’s Scrappers, he went 5-0 with a 2.05 ERA in 13 games.
The National City, Calif., native played college baseball at Baker University, going 9-3 with a 2.63 ERA in 2009 and 6-4 with a 1.33 ERA in 2008. He also played two seasons for Southwestern College, where he was named Pacific Coast Conference Baseball Player of the Year in 2007.
