Shuffield, a junior from San Antonio, Texas, played a key role for the Sun Belt Conference
Champions Texas State this season. The middle infielder continued his success from 2018
where he hit .303 by raising his batting average 27 points to lead the team at a .330 clip with a
team-leading 72 hits. He caught fire in Sun Belt play, hitting .402 with 49 hits, 10 doubles, two
triples, and 15 walks in 30 conference games. Of the 55 games he appeared in for the Bobcats,
Shuffield had 21 multi-hit games, including two four-hit performances against Houston (3/2)
and Georgia Southern (4/14).
