John Mazza heads to Newport after his second season as a Huskie. Before transferring to Northeastern, Mazza played one year with the University of Maryland Terrapins. In 2018, Mazza has started in 36 games and helped the Huskies to an NCAA Tournument appearance, their first since 2003. Out of his 21 hits this spring, he tallied three doubles and two homeruns while driving in 14 baserunners.

In previous summers, Mazza has played in the New England Collegiate Baseball League, the Futures League, and the Cape Cod League. He finds himself back to the NECBL this summer to help provide depth behind the plate for Newport.
