Aaron Izaryk returns to lead the Mainers in 2011. In his first two seasons at the helm, Izaryk, a Sanford Mainers and UMaine alum, led the Moose to two consecutive NECBL playoff berths. The Mainers have gone 46-35 (.568) under Izaryk, including 13 league all-stars over those two seasons. Izaryk is currently the Head Coach of the Bridgton Academy Wolverines, a postgraduate-only institution in North Bridgton, ME. Prior to Bridgton, Izaryk served as pitching coach and catching instructor for the University of Maine, serving five years with the Black Bears. In the summer of 2006, he was an assistant coach of the Keene Swamp Bats of the NECBL. He also served as an assistant coach with the Hyannis Mets of the Cape Cod League in 2007. As a player, Izaryk saw action in 197 career games for UMaine and batted .318, with 207 hits, 134 runs scored and 123 RBI. In 2005, he earned America East First Team honors for the third time in his career. He was also named to the America East All-Tournament team in addition to being named to the New England Intercollegiate Baseball Association Second Team. As a freshman in 2002, Izaryk was named a Collegiate Baseball /Louisville Slugger Freshman All-American. Izaryk was also named a Second Team Academic All-American, becoming the first Maine baseball player to receive such an honor. |
