Michael Vicaro is another first-year member of the SteepleCats’ organization. Vicaro just completed his first season as the pitching coach for Fairleigh Dickinson University in Florham Park. He now has the important task of repeating last year’s pitching dominance as the ‘Cats claimed the Western Division’s best regular-season record. Before Fairleigh Dickinson, Vicaro returned to his alma mater and served as the co-pitching coach at Montclair State in 2009 when the Red Hawks advanced all the way to the NCAA Mid-Atlantic Regional. During his playing career at Montclair State, Vicaro led the team to a College World Series berth where the Red Hawks finished third. He then made the All-Word Series team after going 1-0 with 17 strikeouts in 10 innings while giving up only one earned run. After a great year with the New Jersey Jackals of the Can-Am League, his contract was purchased by the Colorado Rockies in 2007. Vicaro returned to the Jackals for the 2008 and 2009 seasons and last year, Vicaro threw for the Sussex Skyhawks. During his professional career, he is 22-16 in 68 games with a 4.79 ERA in 290 innings pitched. |
