Domel begins his first year as the pitching coach for the Skeeters, bringing with him 10 seasons of experience as a pitching coach at the professional level. He replaces Rafael Montalvo, who spent one year as the Skeeters pitching coach and has since joined the Road Warriors as pitching coach. Domel worked the last five seasons as the pitching coach for the Somerset Patriots under manager Brett Jodie, helping lead the team to the Atlantic League title in 2015 as well as a trip to the league’s championship series in 2013 and playoffs in 2017.

Domel began his professional career as a pitching coach in the Frontier League, spending three seasons in part with the Midwest Sliders and Oakland County Cruisers. He then spent a season as the pitching coach for the Windy City ThunderBolts of the Frontier League and joined the Amarillo Sox of the American Association as a pitching coach in 2012 before being hired by Somerset. Domel began his coaching career in 2002 as the pitching coach for the College of Lake County (Grayslake, Ill.) where he is an alumnus.

Domel also has stints as a pitching coach for the Vermont Mountaineers of the New England Collegiate Baseball League, University of Maine and Flagler College (St. Augustine, Fla.) After playing at College of Lake County, Domel pitched at Western Illinois University where he racked up 51 appearances (59.2 IP) to go with two saves through two seasons.
