After finishing 2017 as one of the top freshman in all of college baseball, Lankford just wrapped up his second season with UNC-Asheville where he has split his time between second and third base for the Bulldogs.  In his sophomore campaign, Lankford started 49 of the 50 games he played in leading the team in slugging percentage (.469) and ranking second in batting average (.266).   He had 47 hits on the year including a team-best 8 home runs while tallying 26 RBI and 27 runs scored.  Defensively he continues to show his prowess for the infield as he had a .910 Fld% to go along with 47 putouts and 75 assists.  In his sensational freshman year with the Bulldogs he became just the 5th All-American in school history and the 1st since 2004 as he turned in impressive performances on both offense and defense.  He hit .268 at the plate with 55 hits, 46 RBIs, led team with 25 extra base hits and was 4th in the Big South Conference in both homeruns (10) and doubles (15).  From the hot corner and up the middle he turned 47 double plays and helped the Bulldogs lead the conference with 33 runners caught stealing.  The Mocksville, NC native was ranked as the #5 third baseman and 45th overall recruit in the state of North Carolina according to Perfect Game during his years at Davie County High School.
