Eddie Campbell was drafted by the Cincinnati Reds in the 44th round of the 2010 MLB Draft, but chose to go to Virginia Tech where he is a left-handed pitcher. In his firs season with the Hokies, Campbell had a 1-1 record with a 5.08 ERA. While holding opposing batters to a .318 batting average, Campbell struck out 23 and walked 15. In 28.1 innings-pitched, in nine appearances, Campbell gave up 19 runs with 35 hits.

In his high school career at Bridgewater-Raynham High School, Campbell posted a 26-4 record with a 0.97 ERA. Over the four years, he struck out 372 batters.  His senior year, Campbell batted .507 with a .656 OBP.  Campbell was a 2010 Rawlings/Perfect Game preseason first-team All-American and first-team Northeast Region. He earned Player of the Year honors from the Boston Globe, Taunton Gazette and Brockton Enterprise. Campbell also earned three All-League honors, three Eastern Mass. All-Star selections, was the 2009 Eastern Mass All-Star Pitcher MVP and was a two-time Mass. All-Star selection.
