He pitched for the University of British Columbia during his college career.

In 2002, he spent a brief time in Brisbane, Australia, before returning to North America to tour with GB in California in 2003.

He pitched in the Canadian Baseball League prior to the 2003 European Championships in Holland. He then played for ADO-Den Haag in the Dutch League and represented GB in the European Championships in the Czech Republic in 2005. He has enjoyed three successful years playing in Croatia, recently transfering to the Dortmund Wanderers in the Bundesliga.

The highlight of his baseball career in Europe was the great run that GB made for the silver medal in Barcelona in the 2007 EC. He is looking forward to helping GB earn international respect in the World Cup 2009.

As well as playing professionally Gary has also coached baseball at a high level for over a decade and most recently has delved into commentating for the baseball World Cup 2007 with Stadeo TV
