Coach Steve Autry has been labeled by many as a gifted and energetic teacher with an extraordinary talent to "reach the unreachable". Having a true passion for the game, Coach Autry brings a positive attitude and highly inspirational approach to instructing and teaching players. Coach Autry played collegiate baseball at Chattahoochee Valley CC and Augusta College. After college, Autry continued his playing career in amateur and semi-professional baseball, primarily in the AABC (American Amateur Baseball Congress) and the Stan Musial League with the Atlanta Crackers and briefly with the Valdosta (GA) Red Sox. Known as a fierce competitor with pinpoint control, a sinking fastball and a devastating slider, Autry still holds several high school, college and amateur baseball records for strikeouts, appearances, innings pitched and career victories. "After my efforts to play professionally were finished, I knew exactly what I wanted to do. I knew my strengths were in being able to effectively communicate with players, simplifying things and putting together programs and plans for improvement. To be a positive influence on players, help them develop their skills, build confidence and get them to the next level is my goal. It's not about me; its about the player. Everyone learns differently and being able to reach, teach and inspire young players is something I take great pride in. It's really bigger than baseball."
Coach Autry is an employee owner & Market Development Mgr at Parksite, Inc. and owns "Coach On The GO", a unique private baseball instruction business. He is also a proud member of the ABCA (American Baseball Coaches Association) where he is active with other coaches and instructors around the nation in providing consistent training and promoting the integrity of the profession and the development of the game of baseball. In 2017, Coach Autry will begin his 18th season as Pitching Coach, Assistant and Instructor for the Atlanta Cracker's. |
