Baran joined the Armada from the GBL’s Arizona Summer League on July 28.  While pitching for the San Diego Surf Dawgs in the three-team summer league, Baran had the second-lowest ERA of pitchers in the league at 2.21.  He appeared in five games, starting three of them.  In 20.1 innings, he totaled 31 strike outs compared to 18 walks.  As a junior at Ouachita Baptist University in 2008, he was a member of the Tigers’ NCAA Division II National Runners-up Team... Started 17 games on the mound for the Tigers...Pitched in 91 innings, while going 10-3...Had a 3.96 ERA...Finished with 81 strikeouts and 52 walks...His best outing came May 30 in the NCAA Division II College World Series, pitching 6 2/3 innings without giving up a run on three hits with three walks and six strikeouts...Tabbed Honorable Mention to All-Arkansas Team...Named to All-Gulf South Conference Second Team.
