Bergholdt went 2-0 as a sophomore at Southeast Missouri State University. In 6.1 innings he had four strikeouts and a 12.79 ERA. He is a Corporate Communications major with a minor in Marketing and Management.

Started two games in five total appearances in his rookie campaign, pitching six total innings including a season-long 3.0 inning outing in his Redhawk debut at Alcorn State (2/22). He was a Southeast Scholar-Athlete. 
He started and lettered three years for Valley Catholic High School where he pitched and played first base. He helped lead Valle Catholic to back-to-back Class 2 State Championships as a junior and a senior and earned All-State, all-district, and all-conference honors as a sophomore, junior, and senior.
