New to the Gulls this summer is Wake Forest University infielder Bruce Steel who just finished his junior year with the Demon Decons. This spring Steel was named Atlantic Coast Conference Co-Player of the Week after hitting 3 home runs, 2 doubles and batting in 9 runs. Steel finished the year with 12 home runs, 36 RBI and a slugging percentage of .558. Though he did not play his sophomore year due to injury, Steel played for the Charlottesville Tom Sox of the Valley Baseball League last summer. While there, he had 31 hits including 6 doubles, 4 home runs and 18 RBI.  As a freshman, Steel posted a fielding percent of .959 while committing just 3 errors in 27 games.

Steel attended Cardinal Newman High School where he hit .514 with 22 RBI, 9 doubles, 3 triples and 5 home runs as a senior. Steel was named First Team All-County by the Sun Sentinel and was ranked 14th in his graduating class.
