Draft Status: 2016 – San Diego Padres (39th Round, 1164th Overall)

JJ Bleday will be joining fellow Vanderbilt freshman teammates Drake Fellows and Ty Duvall on the Gulls roster this summer. The lefty earned substantial playing time in his rookie season, starting 42 games. Bleday’s 32 walks was second best on the Commodores while his 21 RBI was first among Vandy freshman. 2016 Gull and Vanderbilt teammate Stephen Scott described Bleday as a “really good left handed bat in our lineup and brings to the table an overall solid defensive outfield performance.”

Bledy attended Titusville High School, winning back to back regional championships in 2013 and 2014 before attending A. Crawford Mosley High School where he won two regional and district titles in his final two years. Bleday received First Team All-State Honors and 3rd Team All-American Honors by Rawlings Perfect Game. Nicknamed “J Squared”, Bleday is college roommates with Commodore and Gulls teammate Drake Fellows.
