A great effort by Matt Young lifted the Western Nevada College to a 3-0 win over the Mt. Hood on Friday at John L. Harvey Field.
Young kept the Mt. Hood (7-4) off the board during his eight innings of work. Young allowed two hits, two walks and struck out five.
Corey Pool was solid at the plate for the Western Nevada College. Pool went 2-2, drove in one and scored one run. He homered in the fifth inning and singled in the seventh inning.
Despite the loss, the Mt. Hood's Seth Rayburn dominated the Western Nevada College's batters, giving up three runs and striking out five.
Rayburn ended up on the wrong side of the pitching decision, charged with his first loss of the year.
