The Rockford Aviators take out the Gateway Grizzlies with help from Greener, 4-3

Matt Greener went 1-3 and hit a home run, sparking the Rockford Aviators (27-43) to a 4-3 victory over the Gateway Grizzlies (42-29) on Wednesday at GCS Ballpark.

He homered in the first inning.

Chris McClendon reached base two times in the game for the Gateway Grizzlies. He scored one run and had one RBI. He tripled in the first innings.

The Rockford Aviators had no answer for Aaron Baker, who kept runners off the basepaths in his appearance. The Rockford Aviators managed just one hit off of the the Gateway Grizzlies' pitcher, who allowed no earned runs, walked none and struck out two during his 2 1/3 innings of work.

Seafth Howe improved to 4-4 on the year by picking up the win for the Rockford Aviators. He allowed three runs over five innings. He struck out seven, walked two and surrendered five hits.

Edison Alvarez was charged with his first loss of the year. He lasted just 4 2/3 innings, walked two, struck out one, and allowed four runs.
