Drafted by the Detroit Tigers in the 28th round of the 2014 MLB June Amateur Draft from Slippery Rock University of Pennsylvania (Slippery Rock, PA). Started the 2017 season with a 13 game hit streak, and had a career high in batting average, homers, and RBI. He added 22 doubles and two triples on his way to a second straight Frontier League All-Star selection. He also cut down on his strikeouts, being fanned just 54 times in ’17 as compared to 90 in ’16. In his first season with the Bums, he hit .280 with eight homers, 25 doubles, and 48 RBI. In 2015, Kengor hit .286 with the West Michigan Whitecaps in the Midwest League. He smacked 19 doubles and three triples, homering once and driving in 38. In 2014, he hit .278 for the Gulf Coast League Tigers with nine doubles and 21 RBI. His performance also earned him a late season call-up to the AAA Toledo Mud Hens. Prior to joining the Tigers organization, Kengor played two seasons at Slippery Rock University where he was named the 2014 Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) West Division Player of the Year and was a PSAC West Division First Team member in 2013.
