Carlini pitched in 17 games, starting two, for Southeastern Louisiana University in 2015. In 24.0 innings he had 30 strikeouts, three saves and had an ERA of 6.38. Carlini only gave up two homeruns and did not hit a batter all season. He had a perfect1.000 fielding percentage. Struck out 11 batters versus Tulane in five innings. 

Before Southeastern Louisiana University: Compiled a 3-3 record and 2.91 ERA in 57.2 innings of work as a sophomore at Northwest Mississippi Community College. Tied for the team lead in strikeouts with 59 while tossing three complete games, including a pair of shutouts, and earned two saves. Was named Mr. Ranger as a sophomore. He went 4-5 with a 3.16 ERA and two complete games in 10 starts as a freshman, striking out 60 and holding opponents to a .254 batting average in 62 innings of work.
