Many student-athletes will venture on to a junior college before committing to another university for the last two years of their eligibility.  For Heflin, his two years at Spartanburg Methodist College allowed him to commit to the University of South Carolina.  A picking spot for the Gamecocks, Heflin will join a storied collegiate baseball program which won back-to-back College World Series in 2010 and 2011.  A 5-foot-9 146-pound sophomore isn’t the prototypical profile for a SEC pitcher, but his arm strength and ability to control the zone has made him a top prospect in the Palmetto State.
