Ward has Major League service with the Houston Astros, Los Angeles Dodgers, Pittsburgh Pirates, Washington Nationals, Atlanta Braves, and Chicago Cubs. He last appeared at the Major League level during the 2008 season for the Cubs.
Ward has appeared in 948 Major League games over 11 seasons and had 588 hits, 131 doubles, 90 home runs, and 379 RBI.
Ward also has 10 seasons at the Triple-A level and a minor league career .295 batting average, 1,254 hits, 237 doubles, 180 home runs, and 803 RBI in 1,155 games.
He has prior Atlantic League experience with the Newark Bears in 2009 and 2010 and the Lancaster Barnstormers in 2013. In Lancaster, he hit .291 with 89 hits, 17 home runs, and 54 RBI in 85 games played.
Ward began the 2014 season in the Mexican Leagues before signing with the Patriots.
