Seasoned right-hander Will Morgan came to the RailCats in June 2010 to complete a trade with the River City Rascals.

Morgan, 24, comes over as the “player to be named later” in the deal that sent starter Ryan Zink to River City.  Originally selected in the 12th Round of the 2007 Major League Entry Draft by the New York Mets, Morgan actually began the 2010 season with the American Association’s Wichita Wingnuts before being traded to River City.   In four appearances with the Rascals, Morgan posted a 2.08 ERA and had five strikeouts in 4.1 innings.

Highly regarded coming out of Lewis-Clark (Idaho) State College, Morgan shined in his first professional season, going 3-0 with a 2.02 ERA in 22 games for the Mets short-season affiliate in Brooklyn with 39 strikeouts against eight walks.  Morgan was severely limited by injury the next two seasons, however, making only eight appearances from 2008-09 before being released.

Morgan helped NAIA powerhouse Lewis-Clark to the National Championship in his only season with the program in 2007, going 5-1 with a 1.46 ERA in 23 appearances, primarily out of the bullpen.  Morgan struck out 78 in 67.2 IP that season and was one of eight players on that Lewis-Clark team to be drafted.  A native of Poway, California, Morgan spent the previous two seasons at Santa Rosa (Calif.) Junior College.
