Schmidt looks to pick up some innings this season with the Blue Sox after only pitching 2.1 innings during his junior year this spring with Stanford. During his sophomore season, Schmidt was a standout out of the Stanford bullpen appearing in 14 games while putting up a 3.68 ERA and 19 Ks in 29.1 innings. During his freshman year, Schmidt appeared in 25 games out of the bullpen and had a 3.98 ERA in 31.2 innings. Out of Christian Brothers Prep (MO), Schmidt was a 47th round draft pick of the Cardinals in 2011 and was ranked the 198th national prospect by Perfect Game as a senior.
