SPRING 2014:  As a freshman, Ryan has had limited playing opportunities for the San Diego State Aztecs.  He appeared in 7 games and had 11 at bats with one run scored and one RBI.  His coach notes that he was a 2013 Perfect Game/Rawlings California Region Honorable Mention selection and also was named to the 2012 Perfect Game Preseason Underclass All-America Honorable Mention team.

HIGH SCHOOL (2013):  Ryan was a four-year baseball letter winner and two year team captain at Bishop Alemany High School in Mission Hills, Calif. Two-year team captain ... As a senior he hit .330 with 14 doubles, three triples and had 15 stolen bases.  He batted .315 during his junior year with 10 doubles and a pair of triples. Ryan was honorable mention All-Mission League his final two seasons. He was honored as a Scholar-Athlete each of his final three years at Bishop Alemany HS.

PERSONAL:  Ryan Anthony Alvarez was born in 1994, in Granada Hills, CA to Raleigh and Maggie Alvarez.  He enjoys the beach, camping and swimming.  His favorite athlete is Boston Red Sox shortstop Dustin Pedroia.  Ryan was also recruited by USC, UC Irvine, and Cal State-Dominguez Hills.  He is a criminal justice major with careers plans to work in a forensics lab.
