A veteran of 16 professional seasons, Eddie Gerald begins his first season as the Jackals’ hitting coach in 2010.

In addition to his extensive coaching experience, Eddie served as the interim manager of the American Association’s Shreveport Sports for 27 games in 2008 when he took over for former Chicago White Sox skipper Terry Bevington mid-season. Gerald is also no stranger to the Can-Am League as he finished his career with the Brockton Rox in 2005.

Gerald, who hails from North Carolina and resides in Minneapolis, was selected out of high school by the Kansas City Royals in the third round of the 1989 draft. During his career, he hit .263 with 159 home runs and 193 stolen bases.

Gerald’s arrival in New Jersey reunites him with manager Joe Calfapietra. In 1995 and 1996, Gerald was a switch-hitting outfielder and Calfapietra was in his second season as a coach for the Aberdeen (SD) Pheasants of the independent Prairie League.
