Brandon was named to the South squad for the West Coast League All-Star Game, but did not play because the game was rained out.

A junior at the University of Washington who spent his first two college seasons at Tacoma CC, Brandon was 4-1, 2.54 in 21 games for the Huskies, with 24 strikeouts in 28.1 innings. He went 2-1, 1.27 in 18 total games for the Knights in 2013, with five saves and 21 strikeouts in 21.1 innings and earned WCL postseason honors.

Brandon was 1-2, 1.92 in 14 appearances at TCC in 2013, with five saves and 32 strikeouts in 28 innings. He was also a NWAACC academic all-star with a 3.44 grade-point average. He was 0-1 with a 6.54 ERA in 10 appearances as a TCC freshman in 2012, with 12 strikeouts in 11 innings.

A graduate of Mountlake Terrace High School in Lynnwood, Wash., he was a two-year letterman at MTHS, and also played for the Washington Wave summer team.
