Drafted by the Florida Marlins in the 5th round of the 1998 MLB June Amateur Draft from Clemson University.  Padgett played in the Marlins organization making it to their Triple-A affiliate in Albuquerque, New Mexico in 2004.  Padgett also suited up for the Philadelphia Phillies and Chicago Cubs minor league teams.  He has been in independent baseball since 2008 and has played for the York Revolution, Long Island Ducks, Camden River Sharks and Southern Maryland Blue Crabs in the Atlantic League.  While in the Can-Am League he suited up for the New Jersey Jackals and he has played in the American Association with the Kansas City T-Bones two different times (2013 & 2014).
