Chace who has both been a starter and reliever in his career but after registering 4 saves last season he became the Colts All-Time Saves Leader with 25 and is tied for 4th in saves (12) in a single season. This will be Vacek's 6th year of professional baseball and fourth with the Colts. Chase who resides in San Angelo pitched at Angelo State University. As a junior he went 5-6, while leading the team in complete games (4) and innings pitched (66.1). He followed it with a standout senior season going 7-4 with a 2.73 ERA in 13 starts, led the team in complete games (6) and innings pitched (82.1), helping lead the Rams to the Lone Star Conference South Division Title. Following his senior year at ASU, he signed with the Kansas City Royals organization. Chace started out at Kansas City's rookie league team in the Arizona League, played in the Pioneer League and was then promoted all the way to high-A High Desert of the California League. In 2007 he returned to San Angelo and posted a 2.25 ERA with nine saves in 39 appearances allowing just 2 ER in 10 games from 5/29-6/17 and came on strong at the end of the season allowing only one ER in his final 18 appearances, a stretch of 19.1 innings from 7/5-8/19 and became the team's closer in July, converting seven saves in final 11 outings In 2008 Chace returned to affiliated ball pitching for low-A Charleston for the New York Yankees organization in the South Atlantic League where he went 5-6 with a 3.79 ERA and eight saves in 54 appearances. In 2009 he returned to San Angelo, where he has been ever since, appearing in 30 games with the Colts garmering a 2-3 record and leading the club with 12 saves.
