Machado, now in his second tour with Lincoln, played 13 years of professional baseball before claiming his first championship with the Saltdogs in 2009.  Albenis was signed as a non-drafted free agent in November 1996 by the then-Montreal Expos organization.  He spent 1997 in the Venezuelan Rookie League, before making his U.S. debut at the Class A level in 1998.  Machado spent seven years in the Expos organization, reaching as high as AAA Ottawa in 2002.  He moved to independent ball in 2004, spending two seasons as Lincoln’s starting shortstop.  Albenis moved on to El Paso in 2006, the first year of the American Association, playing well enough to be signed by the Chicago Cubs organization and placed in AA ball late in the year.  He opened the 2007 campaign with AAA Iowa, but was released after a month and rejoined El Paso.  In 2008, he started with the Diablos before signing with Oaxaca of the Mexican League, and he finally made his return to Lincoln at the end of July.
