Profile
Title: Pitching Coach
Birthday: Jun 30, 1979
Hometown: Wichita
Height: 6-4
Weight: 250 lbs

Entering his ninth season as the Wingnuts pitching coach, Robertson is the longest tenured member of the Wichita staff. Under Robertson, Wichita’s staff has been third or better in the American Association in team ERA in five of the last seven seasons including first-place finishes in 2009 (3.52), 2010 (4.05), 2013 (3.38), and 2014 (3.60).

During Robertson’s tenure, the Wingnuts have had 21 pitchers’ contracts purchased by Major League organizations, most recently right-handers Derek Eitel and Paul Smyth, as well as left-hander Alex Sogard this past offseason.

The club has also tossed a pair of no-hitters under his direction. The first was a solo effort by Will Savage on June 23, 2009 against Sioux City. Savage had his contract purchased by the Los Angeles Dodgers following the season. In July of 2011, the second no-hitter in Wingnuts history was a combined effort between Junior Guerra, Matt Nevarez, and Josh Dew against Shreveport-Bossier.

After lettering in baseball, basketball, and football at nearby Maize High School, Robertson went on to play two years of college baseball at Butler Community College before he was selected in the 27th round of the 1999 draft by the Los Angeles Dodgers. Rather than sign, he attended Kansas State before signing as a free agent with the Oakland Athletics in 2002.

In three seasons with the Oakland organization, Robertson went 13-14 with a 5.25 ERA and climbed as high as Triple-A Sacramento in 2003. The righty has made two appearances on the hill as a Wingnut, once in 2012, and again in 2014.
