Pellot starred in the playoffs after a very good regular season. The slick fielding second baseman hit .500 (13-26) with two home runs and five RBI in seven postseason games in 2011. Pellot hails from San Juan, Puerto Rico where he honed his skills at the Puerto Rico Baseball Academy. The Mets selected Mike Pelfrey in the first round in 2005 and did not have a second or third round pick, making Pellot their second pick of that draft. In only his second year of professional ball, Pellot was named a South Atlantic League Mid-Season All-Star in 2007. His strong start to the season earned him a promotion to the high-A Florida State League that year. He remained in the FSL until 2010 when he got a mid-season promotion to the Double-A Eastern League. Pellot has played most of his games at second base during his career. But he also has experience at third base and has made appearances at all three positions in the outfield.
