Torin Montgomery is a first-year Explorer in 2025 after three seasons with the Miami Marlins organization. He played high-A ball for the Beloit Sky Carp in 2024, hitting .237 with six home runs and 38 RBI in 72 games. In 2023, he played for the Jupiter Hammerheads, hitting .341 with three home runs and 34 RBI before being promoted to Beloit.
Montgomery played at the University of Missouri, where he hit .365 in 2022, ranking 7th in the SEC. The Marlins drafted him 412th overall in the 14th round in 2022. He started his pro career with an eight-game hitting streak and finished his first season hitting .266 with four home runs and 19 RBI.
Before Missouri, Montgomery played at Boise State, hitting .308 in the Covid-shortened 2020 season. He also played summer ball in the Cape Cod League and the California Collegiate League, hitting .335 with nine home runs and 55 RBI in 2021 with the latter.
Montgomery attended Lake Washington Senior High School in Kirkland, Washington, where he was a three-time all-conference player. The Marlins drafted him in the 35th round in 2019, but he chose to attend college. He brings three years of professional experience to Sioux City.
