Petersen joins the Ducks with seven seasons of professional baseball experience. He split time in 2010 with Independent Lake County, Independent St. Paul, and Independent New Jersey, combining to hit .249 with 27 RBI and 12 doubles in 62 games. During the 2009 season, the 28-year-old hit .326 with three homers and 27 RBI in 57 games. Petersen was originally drafted by the Minnesota Twins in the 24th round of the 2002 MLB Draft.
