Botts is looking to earn a contract back to affiliated ball from the Atlantic League for a second straight season. The switch-hitting slugger began last year in Camden where he hit .342 in 41 games, earning a contract with the Washington Nationals. He spent the remainder of the year at Triple-A Syracuse, where he batted .279 in 80 games, while connecting on eight homeruns.

Botts has blasted 138 round-trippers in his pro career which began as a top prospect in the Texas Rangers organization. He led the Rangers farm system in homeruns in back-to-back seasons, with 24 at Double-A Frisco in 2004 and 25 more with Triple-A Oklahoma in 2005. It was during the 2005 season that Botts earned a call-up to the major leagues for the first of four consecutive seasons, including a spot on Texas’ Opening Day roster in 2008. All told, Botts has played in 93 major league games, collecting 65 hits and five homers. He also spent parts of the 2008 and 2009 seasons playing in Japan.
