Kirian, a lefty pitcher joins his fellow Louisville teammates Zach Britton and Gavin Sullivan. A late addition to the Gulls, the sophomore started his summer with the Chatham Anglers of the Cape Cod Baseball League. There he pitched 2.0 innings in three games giving up one run, one walk, and striking out three. Kirian finished his freshman season at Louisville with 16 strikeouts, 14 walks, and 12 hits through 11.1 innings pitched in 15 games. 

Kirian was a 4-year letterwinner at New Riegel High School in Ohio. He was ranked at No. 155 in the nation in the class of 2017 by Perfect Game, including the No. 17 lefthanded pitcher and the No. 2 player in the state of Ohio. Kirian was named Ohio Gatorade Player of the Year and finished his senior season with an 8-0 record, 0.50 ERA, and 129 strikeouts.
