Self seemed to do it all himself on his high school baseball team, as he earned a 30-5 record at Westbrook Christian High School over his four seasons.  Self gained all-honors as a junior and senior.  On top of his achievements on the diamond, Self hit the hardwood as well for three seasons of basketball. Appearing in 11 games, Self posted a 4-2 record with a 5.64 ERA.  He struck out 29 batters over the course of 30.1 innings pitched.  Self’s length of relief outings varied, but most of the time he was used as a long reliever, as seven of his outings lasted two innings or more, and five of those extending 3 innings or longer.
