Kyle Von Ruden begins his second professional season, both with the Windy City ThunderBolts, in 2017. He was signed on July 15, 2016 out of the University of Hawaii and won his pro debut 16-1 three days later. He started nine games his rookie year and threw 51 innings. Von Ruden spent two years at Hawaii and went a combined 9-6 with a 3.74 ERA in 32 games (22 starts). He won seven games as a senior and was named All-Big West honorable mention. He posted a 3.44 ERA for the season. Prior to Hawaii, Kyle attended Cosumnes River College in Sacramento, where he had a 1.34 ERA in 12 starts as a sophomore and a 2.38 ERA overall in two years. He went to Franklin High School in Elk Grove, California.
