Saturday was a great day for Taylor Olmstead, as he clubbed two home runs to carry the Torrington Titans (24-19) to a 9-2 victory over the Wachusett Dirt Dawgs (19-25) at Doyle Field in seven innings.
The Torrington Titans blew out the Wachusett Dirt Dawgs thanks to 10 hits, including zero extra base hits. An error and a three-run home run by Olmstead helped the Torrington Titans score four runs in the seventh. The Torrington Titans had two hits in the inning.
The Torrington Titans got the win thanks in large part to Mike Gibbons's dominant, six-strikeout performance. Gibbons allowed two earned runs, five hits and one walk over six innings.
PJ Browne (1-1) was the game's losing pitcher. He lasted just six innings, walked one, struck out three, and allowed five runs.
