Corey Thompson joins the Waterloo Bucks for his first season in 2016 as the team’s pitching coach. Thompson just completed his second season as an assistant coach at his alma mater, Point University. Thompson was the pitching coach last summer for the Regina Red Sox of the Summer-Collegiate Western Major Baseball League. In two seasons as a pitcher at Point University, Thompson went 8-9 with a 4.94 ERA in 30 games (23 starts). As a senior in 2014, Thompson went 4-3 with a 5.65 ERA in 16 games (10 starts). In 57.1 innings, Thompson struck out 43. As a junior in 2013, Thompson finished with a record of 4-6 in a team-high 13 starts. Thompson finished second on the Skyhawks with four complete games, 81 innings pitched and 54 strikeouts.
