#11 Paul Sanagorski - Profile

Title: Hitting Coach

Entering his second season with the Wingnuts, Sanagorski has coached at various levels of the game for nearly four decades. In 1978, he brought a baseball program to Newman University in Wichita for the first time, a program he led to a 766-291 record during his tenure, which included a fourth-place finish in the program’s lone NAIA World Series appearance.

After leaving Newman, Sanagorski coached at multiple levels in the Florida Marlins and Washington Nationals organizations. He served as the hitting coach for Double-A Carolina in the Marlins organization when the Mudcats won the Southern League Championship in 2003 with a lineup that featured future Major League Baseball sluggers Miguel Cabrera and Adrian Gonzalez.

Following his tenure as a coach in the minors, Sanagorski coached at Bishop Carroll High School where he coached his son Taylor, a junior catcher at Emporia State University who offered his services as the Wingnuts bullpen catcher for the 2015 season.

Sanagorski has also coached with numerous other programs and individuals throughout the Wichita area over the last several years, including with Friends University and with individual lessons for local young players.

Sanagorski was inducted into the Newman University Athletic Hall of Fame in 2007, the Kansas Baseball Hall of Fame in 2009, and the Wichita Sports Hall of Fame in 2012.
