Haviland, 23, signed with the Grizzlies on July 23, 2015 after recently completing his collegiate career at Duke University.

The McDonald, PA native posted a 3-1 record with a career-best 3.40 ERA in 42.1 IP (7 starts) for the Blue Devils in 2015. Haviland appeared in 62 games during his career at Duke, earning seven wins, while notching 84 strikeouts in 129 IP. He was also an ACC Academic Honor Roll selection three times during his career.

Haviland was originally drafted in the 48th round of the 2010 MLB Draft by the Pirates after a standout career at South Fayette High School. Haviland went 10-0 with a 0.96 ERA and 100 strikeouts in 56 innings as a senior. He also tossed three no-hitters in his high school career.
